What it's used for

How I approach it

This is my favourite treatment, and I think it's the most underrated one in aesthetics. A small amount here changes a profile in a way that people notice without being able to say what happened.

I look at you from the side before I look at you from the front, which surprises people. Chin and jaw read almost entirely from profile, and most of us have never really seen ourselves that way. I'll show you the photo, and it's usually the moment the conversation changes.

If you came in for lip filler and I think your chin is the actual issue, I'll tell you. That's a harder conversation, because it isn't what you booked. But adding lip volume to a face that needs chin projection makes the imbalance louder, and you'd feel that without knowing why.

Priced by the syringe, and the chin often needs less than people expect. It is frequently the cheapest way to make a genuinely visible change, which is part of why I suggest it so often.

When I'd tell you not to

• If you have significant dental or bite issues driving the chin position, that's an orthodontic conversation before it's a filler one.
• If you want a dramatic structural change, filler has limits and I'd rather say so than under-deliver on an expectation.
• If you're asking for chin filler to fix jowling, the chin alone won't do that, and I'd want to talk about the whole lower face first.

Common questions

Will it make my chin look big?

Not at the amounts used for balance. The aim is proportion with your nose and lips, not projection for its own sake.

Can it help my jawline?

It can improve how the jawline reads from the side, because the chin is where the jaw starts. It won't treat jowling on its own.

How long does it last?

Often twelve to eighteen months. The chin moves less than the mouth, so product lasts well here.

Is it painful?

Less than most people expect. It's a firm area, so you'll feel pressure, but it's quick.

Do I need lips too?

Often the opposite. Getting the chin right sometimes means you want less lip than you thought.
