What I treat, and how I think about each one.
You don't need to arrive knowing which of these you want. But if you're researching, here's what each one actually does and when I'd suggest something else instead.
Neuromodulators
A neuromodulator relaxes the specific muscles that fold your skin when you make an expression, so the lines they create soften. Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify are all the same category of product with small differences between them. How much movement you keep is a dosing decision we make together, not a fixed property of the treatment.
When I'd say noIf your lines are etched in and visible when your face is completely still, I'll tell you a neuromodulator will soften them slowly over rounds rather than erase them now. Some people want to know that before they spend.
Lip filler
Hyaluronic acid filler placed in the lips to change shape, definition, hydration, or volume. Most first appointments use less product than people expect, because shape usually matters more than size. It is not permanent and it can be dissolved.
When I'd say noIf you have a cold sore history and are currently active, we wait until it has cleared.
Cheek filler
Filler placed to restore support in the midface. Cheeks are structural, so treating them well often improves the folds, the under-eye area, and the jawline at the same time. It is frequently the highest-value first treatment, and frequently not the area people ask about.
When I'd say noIf what you're describing is skin laxity rather than lost volume, filler will add weight without lifting anything, and I'll tell you that.
Chin filler
Filler placed to add projection or length to the chin. It is one of the smallest treatments by volume and one of the largest by effect, because the chin anchors your whole profile. It is very often the answer to a complaint that was described as being about the lips or the jawline.
When I'd say noIf you have significant dental or bite issues driving the chin position, that's an orthodontic conversation before it's a filler one.
Facial balancing
Treating the face as a whole rather than one feature in isolation. In practice it usually means small amounts across two areas that relate to each other, chosen after looking at your proportions from the front and in profile. Done properly it uses less product than treating one area heavily, not more.
When I'd say noIf you want your whole face treated in one appointment, I won't do it. Not because it's unsafe, but because nobody can assess a result while four things are swelling at once.
